Welcome to the New England Children’s Poetry Competition
A premier poetry contest for New England kids from kindergarten through 8th grade
The Competition will take place each year during the month of April, National Poetry Month.
The winners for each grade will be announced in June.
More than 1500 poets from 60+ public and private schools throughout New England, as well as some home schoolers,
participated in the poetry competition in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Our award ceremony with the winners and some of the judges, hosted by one of our sponsor Newtonville Books in Newton, MA.
All children, ages 5-14 and living in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont, are welcome to submit their poems.
A panel of judges will evaluate one entry per student or two entries, if the student submits a regular poem and a haiku.
Each poem should contain the name of the poem, the name of the author, grade of the student, the name of the teacher and the school, if applicable. Teachers, educators, and schools may submit on behalf of the students by mail, email, or through the form below. The last day to submit a poem is May 10th.
