Bring family, friends, and teachers to celebrate all of your hard work. Not only is this a chance to honor all our young poets, but it will be an incredible opportunity to make connections across grades and state lines. We hope all our awardees will be able to attend, and emails will also be sent out to families with further details.

Welcome to the New England Children’s Poetry Competition
A premier poetry contest for New England kids from pre-K through 8th grade
The Competition will take place each year during the month of April, National Poetry Month.
The winners for each grade are announced in June.
All children, ages 5-14 and living in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont, are welcome to submit their poems.
A panel of judges will evaluate one entry per student or two entries, if the student submits a regular poem and a haiku.
Each poem should contain the name of the poem, the name of the author, grade of the student, the name of the teacher and the school, if applicable. Teachers, educators, and schools may submit on behalf of the students by mail, email, or through the form below. The last day to submit a poem is May 10th.
More than 1500 poets from 60+ public and private schools throughout New England, as well as some home schoolers,
participated in the poetry competition in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

We have closed the submissions for 2026. The judges have reviewed all poems and haikus. Winners have been announced.
